"Hey Dave Andreychuk! Why the long face?"
Team Maj Hall of Fame - 2013 - 2014 inductee
Bernie Nichols RW - Highlights include: 70 goal, 150 point season; 1209 career points; 475 career goals
On the day that Ben Johnson ran that world record olympic time Maj was deftly drafting Bernie "Pumper" Nichols as the first ever Team Maj draft pick. Unlike Ben Johnson, Nichols didn't disgrace the Canadian Flag, but instead helped Maj put some beer money in his pocket on a regular basis in 1989. The NSHP was still a points pool at this time, however Maj did draft Nichols later in his career, although records are a bit sketchy, as this was before the computer era. Maybe Burt can check his paper files and come up with some hidden gems, and maybe an Alf story or two.
Cam Neely RW - Highlights include: 395 career NHL goals; 50 goals in 44 games; 18.4% career shooting percentage
Team Maj pulled off a major trade in the 1995 season with former NSHP manager and former brother Jeff "SAMPSON" Robins, that included the often injured Superstar Cam Neely. Maj traded Ottawa 1st round pick Alexandre Daigle for Neely and it proved to be a great two years of scoring for Team Maj. Unfortunately, Neely only played 91 games in the two years Maj had him in the lineup, but he scored 53 goals in those 91 games. He would've scored a bunch more too if that motherfucker Samuelsson and a degenerative hip didn't put him out for good at the age of 31.
Team Maj Hall of Fame - 2010 inductees
Pavel Bure RW - Highlights include: 437 career NHL goals; four 50 plus goal seasons
Team Maj drafted Bure with the first overall pick in the 1992 entry draft. The Russian Rocket scored on the last day of the 2000-2001 season to vault Team Maj over Team Sampson to win the NSHP cup, in the most controversial finish to the NSHP season ever. Team Sampson eventually quit the pool and gave Team Gunner forward Sidney Crosby in the process.
Sandis Ozolinsh D - Highlights include: 26 goal season; 167 career NHL goals
Ozolinsh was drafted by Team Maj last overall in the 1993 entry draft and promptly delivered a 26 goal campaign. Ozolinsh had another great season in 1996-97 scoring 23 goals and continued to post double digit scoring seasons throughout the 90's. Ozolinsh played over 800 NHL games and today is playing in the KHL.
Teemu Selanne RW - Highlights include: 76 goal roookie scoring record; 600 plus NHL Goals
Team Maj drafted the Finnish Flash with the last overall pick in the 1992 entry draft. Selanne went on to score 76 goals that year, and continued to be a big time scoring threat throughout the 90's. He ended up on Team Sampson and was eventually picked up by team Gunner.
Ed Belfour G - Highlights include: 76 career shutouts; 10 shutouts in 2003-04
Aquired from team Burt for Patrick Lalime at the beginning of hte 2003-04 season, Belfour posted 10 shutouts and holds the record for shutouts for a goalie in Team Maj history. The Belfour for Lalime trade also ranks as one of the best ever for Team Maj. Belfour's career ended shortly after his best ever season.
